I’ve an Angel in the Oven: The Art of William Wilson RSA – online talk by Sandy Wood, Royal Scottish Academy

Sandy Wood is Collections Curator at the Royal Scottish Academy of Art & Architecture. He is responsible for the management, care of, and access to the RSA’s uniquely formed collection, Recognised as a collection of National Significance to Scotland. In 2017, with Arthur Watson PPRSA, Sandy curated Ages of Wonder: Scotland’s Art 1540 to Now, and this sowed the seeds for an exhibition on William Wilson. William Wilson: Print, Paint and Glass was showcased at the RSA in 2022, celebrating 50 years since the life of Wilson. The exhibition drew critical acclaim and this talk by Sandy takes works from the exhibition to explore Wilson’s impressive career, from his early years at Edinburgh College of Art, through his virtuoso printmaking and watercolour painting, to the successes of his stained glass business. The exhibition can still be accessed via the Royal Scottish Academy website at https://www.royalscottishacademy.org/viewing-room/11-william-wilson-print-paint-glass/
