Drawing Diversity: Representation in Fashion and Lifestyle illustration

Practical insights into capturing personality as a route to portraying diverse characters.

We understood from our Diversity and Equality roundtable talks that some illustrators would value a space to explore how to increase the diversity depicted in their illustration practice. This online session is the fifth of a short series to explore that.

Angelica Roselyn and Francesco Lo Iacono , will share their experiences of inspiring projects in which they both explore representation in fashion illustration and how they champion diversity in their work. Both Francesco and Anjelica, in conversation with AOI board director Montana Forbes , will discuss what inspired each project and why it was important to them. They will delve into the process of interpreting briefs and managing client expectations, their individual techniques, and the significance of inclusive imagery in the fashion and lifestyle sectors.

The session will provide practical insights on research and figurative drawing as a route to creating and portraying diverse characters and will allow a space to respectfully discuss varying approaches to depicting diversity.

Please note: This online event will not be recorded.
