Winter 2023 Online Drawing Marathon
Start the New Year off on the right foot—and hand—with SVACE’s Winter 2023 online Drawing Marathon. This free session, led by Visual Artist and SVA faculty member Peter Hristoff combines aspects of the different types of classes the instructor teaches online drawing from imagination (Inventory Drawing), life drawing (The Vigorous Figure) and drawing from Art History (Drawing the Met Collection).
This is a fast paced session of non-stop, one minute drawings using prompts, figure models and museum images to inspire the participants to work loosely and fearlessly. The emphasis is on line and expressive drawing. This session requires an open mind and a willingness to let go. Open to all levels.
The session requires quite a bit of paper; the following options are suggested:
– package of 8.5×11″ or 11×17″ heavy weight, cotton photocopy or laser paper
– sketch pad if working with dry mediums
– loose sheets of various types of paper (we do approximately 100 drawings, plan accordingly)
– rice paper scrolls for those working in ink wishing to create an “endless drawing”
– any preferred drawing materials –pencils, ink, markers, paint, crayons– that allow for quick, dark and smooth lines. Recommended: Ebony Pencils, Lyra brand water soluble graphite crayons in 6B or 9B, Faber Castel Pitt Markers in brush points, Pen and Ink or Brush and Ink.
