The Artist's Way: A 12-Week Creativity Workshop

A BOOKENDS UNIVERSITY ONLINE WORKSHOP
No matter what your age or your life path, whether making art is your career or your hobby or your dream, it is not too late or too egotistical or too selfish or too silly to work on your creativity. -Julie Cameron
Maybe your New Year’s resolution should be to work on your creativity! Bookends University is excited to offer a 12-week-long program of support and exploration to help you do just that. Using Julie Cameron’s canonical The Artist’s Way as our guide, we will employ daily writing practice, weekly artist dates, and exploratory exercises to help you connect with your inner artist. Appropriate for all: writers in all genres, actors, dancers, visual artists, musicians, and ANYONE who wants to live more creatively.
You don’t need to quit your job or abandon your family to do The Artist’s Way, but there is a moderate time commitment required. The class will meet on Zoom every Monday evening for two hours. You’ll need to dedicate approximately 30 minutes each morning to writing morning pages, and perhaps two hours a week for an artist date. There will also be short weekly readings. We will do weekly exercises and check-ins together in class.
This program will be led by Bookends University Programming Director Freda Love Smith. Please email Freda with any questions: freda@bookendsandbeginnings.com
Tuition: $245. Includes a copy of The Artist’s Way which you can pick up in the bookstore or have mailed to you.
Freda Love Smith is a writer, educator, bookseller, and retired rock drummer living in Evanston, Illinois. She is the author of Red Velvet Underground: A rock memoir, with recipes (2015), I Quit Everything (forthcoming, 2023), and Angel of the Angels (forthcoming, 2024).
