let’s make HENRI MATISSE inspired art !
*Getting inspired by Henri Matisse & Jonas Wood
*Feeling good to practise creativity
An hour of a virtual workshop with a guided warm-up, and prompts on creating art inspired by French artist Henri Matisse.
As a child, Matisse stood by a window in a room and looked out where the family kept the birds in the backyard. If Matisse teaches us anything, it is to give ourselves some time to look out the window and ponder, as inspiration may just come.
Matisse originally used his “cut-outs”, also known as “drawing with scissors” to brainstorm and compose his paintings. Towards his final years, Matisse cut shapes directly from sheets of coloured paper into a world of plants, animals, figures, and shapes.
We will take a closer look at the everyday objects that inspire Matisse.
We will also look at how multi-dimensional contemporary pop artist Jonas Wood uses art history references in Matisse’s iconic motif in his pots.
You will be given options of applying the characteristics of Matisse’s art, radical use of unnatural colours and gaining confidence in your chosen material.
