Botanical Drawing for Beginners – ONLINE

Draw for the fun of it or as a preliminary step to later work in color! You’ll learn careful observational skills to translate what you see into simple lines and shapes, as well as basic botanical drawing techniques to make a realistic drawing of a simple fruit. See how to turn a cone and a sphere shape into a Bartlett pear.
Students will need a 9” x 12” pad of drawing paper (Strathmore 400 regular surface); an HB and 2B pencil (Faber-Castell 9000); a white plastic eraser (Staedtler Mars); and a fresh Bartlett pear. A Zoom link will be provided one day prior to the class.
Classes will be led by Kathie Miranda, a contemporary multi-media artist and educator. A graduate of Pace University, with further studies at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and Paier College of Art, she coordinated the Art program at the New York Botanical Garden and is past-president of the New York chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators.
Class is $60 with a 10% discount for Bartlett members. Click here to sign up directly and get your member discount . Not a member yet? Learn more here!
